Hydro Ottawa serves business customers across all sectors of the local economy.
Small business customers whose demand is less than 50 kW per year have the option of buying the electricity they use through the Regulated Price Plan (RPP), where they are charged a price per kilowatt hour (kWh) for the electricity used. You are automatically part of this plan unless you choose to purchase your electricity from an electricity retailer. These prices are set by the Ontario Energy Board. Other business customers may be eligible if they qualify for "designated consumer" status.
The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) is currently phasing out the Tiered RPP as it introduces Time-of-Use (TOU) pricing. Most Hydro Ottawa customers are now on TOU rates.
Owners and managers of buildings that have multiple residences, but only one meter, have the opportunity to declare this information and extend their "conservation threshold" in order to receive the first tier allowance on each residential unit.
Requests for a new electrical connection or an upgrade to an existing service can simply be submitted online using our Service Request Form. Key information is available on rates and conditions, understanding your bill, paying your bill, as well as Hydro Ottawa's Conditions of Service.
Unseen danger! Private generators that are connected to the power system could present a safety hazard to Utility workers.
