CFL Disposal

In Ottawa, there are now several locations where you can properly dispose of compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) that have burned out.  Like paint, thermostats and other hazardous household items, CFLs should be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way. 

If your CFL breaks, place the broken pieces of CFL in a plastic bag and wipe the area clean with a damp paper towel to pick up any stray shards of glass or fine particles. Put the used towel in the plastic bag as well.
