The Smart Thermostat Rebate program is an exclusive offer to Kanata North residents. The program offers an on-bill credit of up to $144 to cover the remaining purchase price from participating in the Enbridge Gas program.

The program intent is to offer customers with free or nearly free smart thermostats to help them save energy (a value up to $219).

To be eligible, you must have purchased and installed one of the eligible Smart Thermostats between June 24th, 2020 and December 31st. All applications must be submitted before December 31st.

How does the Smart Thermostat Rebate Program work?

To participate, you must purchase an eligible smart thermostat listed in the Enbridge Gas program.

Once purchased and installed, you will need a photo of the receipt, a photo of your thermostat on the wall displaying its device number, and the Hydro Ottawa provided Rebate Code.

You can then apply here and receive an on-bill credit from Hydro Ottawa that covers the remaining balance of the purchase price (up to $144).

Eligible customers were emailed in June and August and notified of their potential eligibility for the program. This outreach will continue until December. Why is Hydro Ottawa offering the Smart Thermostat program?

This outreach began in the summer and although winter is near, we want to encourage long-term summer peak load reduction to help ensure the safety and reliability of our electricity distribution system as we work to ensure our system can meet the demand of a growing population in your area.

That’s why Hydro Ottawa has teamed up with Enbridge Gas and Save on Energy to offer homes in your area this exclusive program.

We also hope that learnings from this initiative will be applied to other areas where rapid growth is occurring.

Will Hydro Ottawa adjust my smart thermostat?

The Smart Thermostat Rebate program for Kanata North is slightly different than Hydro Ottawa’s previous thermostat programs. Hydro Ottawa and the province are not signaling the thermostats to reduce summer peak loads.

We just want you to have a smart thermostat to help you manage your heating and cooling.
