Stay informed during power outages
Power outages can be challenging. That’s why keeping you informed is a key part of our commitment to improving reliability and resilience during unexpected power disruptions.
Delivered to your phone via text message or to your email inbox, outage alerts ensure you have the real-time information you need while our team works to restore your power.
Whether you prefer text or email, you’ll receive timely updates about:
- Unexpected outages in your area
- Planned outages that are in progress
- Estimated time when your power will be back on
- Restoration status updates
- Confirmation when your power has been restored
For residential and small business customers: As of February 27, 2025, you’re enrolled to receive outage alerts if you have a MyAccount profile. If you have a valid mobile phone number on file, you'll receive text alerts by default. If you haven’t added your phone number to your account, you'll receive email alerts.
New customersIf you’re a new customer, a new account owner or a large commercial customer, you’ll need a registered MyAccount profile to sign up for outage alerts. Log in or register for MyAccount to get started. Once you create your profile, you’ll be automatically enrolled. To enroll additional email addresses or phone numbers, follow these steps: Via MyAccount (for email or text notifications):
Via SMS/Text (for text alerts only): Register an additional number by texting "REG" to PWROUT (797688). | Existing customersSend a text message to PWROUT (797688):

To manage notifications, follow these steps:
- Log in to your MyAccount profile.
- Select the Account icon.
- Go to the Manage profile tab.
- Choose Outage alerts.
From there, you can adjust your alert settings or unsubscribe. You can also add additional emails or phone numbers so alerts can be sent to other individuals at your business
If you’re registered for text outage alerts, you can also text "STOP" to PWROUT (797688) to unsubscribe.
By default, a “Do not disturb” setting is active between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. You can customize these hours or opt to receive alerts 24/7 in your MyAccount profile
You can use your mobile phone to text the following commands to PWROUT (797688):
- REG: To register for text outage alerts
- OUT: To report an outage
- HELP: To get a link to our web page for more information about the program
- INFO: To get a link to our outage map or the number for our outage line for more information
- STOP: To be removed from our subscriber list and stop receiving alerts
