Capacity Information Map
The Ontario Energy Board’s Centralized Capacity Information Map is a useful province-wide preliminary online planning tool coordinated and launched by the OEB to provide a consolidated, high-level view of capacity availability across Ontario’s electricity distribution systems.

- Available load capacity: The ability to serve new or expanded electricity demand.
- Available hosting capacity for DERs: The ability to connect new Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) like solar panels, wind turbines, or battery storage.
Notes:
System upgrades may be required regardless of displayed capacity, and capacity presented on the map does not guarantee a connection.
The Centralized Capacity Information Map is for general reference purposes only and does not form part of Hydro Ottawa’s Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Interconnection Process in any way. Customers seeking to verify DER capacity must follow Hydro Ottawa’s standard interconnection procedures.
The map shows capacity in broad ranges and reflects system conditions at the time distributors submitted their data to the OEB. It’s not a substitute for detailed assessments, as conditions can change and every project has unique requirements.
“WARRANTY DISCLAIMER: The OEB’s Centralized Capacity Information Map (“CCIM”) is provided for informational purposes only. It is not intended to be, and should not be relied upon as, a basis for determining the permissible hosting capacity of distributed energy resources (DERs) that may be interconnected to the distribution system. Separate and specific analysis is required to determine DER capacity on the distribution system. Further, the information, data and materials in the Capacity Map are provided on an “as is” basis and while Hydro Ottawa Limited provides this information in good faith, Hydro Ottawa Limited, its directors, officers, shareholders, contractors, employees, agents, and those of its affiliates and the agents and advisors of such persons (collectively, the “Representatives”), do not warrant, covenant or guarantee, in any expressed or implied form, arising by law or otherwise:
- the performance, availability, coverage, uninterrupted use, security or operation of the Capacity Map;
- that the Capacity Map is free from any infringement of any third-party intellectual property rights;
- the completeness, effectiveness, accuracy, timeliness and/or fitness of the Capacity Map for any particular purpose.
The information, data and materials contained in the Capacity Map are only indicative, and there may be upstream distribution system or transmission system constraints. Hydro Ottawa Limited and its Representatives do not assume responsibility nor accept any liability arising from any use of the Capacity Map whatsoever. Any use of the Capacity Map is at the user’s sole risk and expense. Users of the Capacity Map are strongly advised to verify the information independently and are encouraged to seek advice before making any decisions based on the information provided in the Capacity Map. The Capacity Map should not be used as the sole basis for any decision, and it is important to consider the context and limitations of the Capacity Map.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: Hydro Ottawa Limited and its Representatives shall not be liable in respect of any claim, demands and/or action, irrespective of the nature of the claim, demand and/or action alleging any loss, injury or damages, direct or indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive damage (including loss of profit or contracts, lost data, or business interruption) or any damages whatsoever which may result from:
- any use of or unavailability of the Capacity Map;
- any errors, omissions or inaccuracies in the Capacity Map;
- any reliance on the completedness, accuracy, timeliness of the Capacity Map;
- any decision made or action taken by the user in reliance on the Capacity Map information.
These limitations apply regardless of whether Hydro Ottawa Limited or its Representatives were advised, had other reason to know, or in fact knew of the possibility of such damage or loss.
The users of this Capacity Map shall indemnify and save harmless Hydro Ottawa Limited and its Representatives from and against any claims, demand, action, costs (including without limitations, legal fees, disbursements and administrative costs), losses, injuries (including death), expenses, damages, fines, orders, and/or recoveries suffered by, made, brought and/or recovered, irrespective of the nature of their cause, including without limitation, claims, demands, actions, costs, losses, expenses, damages, fines, orders, and/or injuries arising out of Hydro Ottawa Limited or its Representative’s negligence, gross negligence, errors and omissions and/or willful misconduct, as they relate to the user’s use of the Capacity Map.
