City of Ottawa has Opened Two Warming Centres

January 4, 2017

Recognizing that the weather is expected to get colder overnight, Hydro Ottawa is working with the City of Ottawa to ensure that residents affected by power outages get the help they need. The City of Ottawa has opened two warming centres where residents can seek shelter.

  • Heron Road Community Centre located at 1480 Heron Road
  • Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre located at 102 Greenview Avenue

Hydro Ottawa crews will work throughout the night to restore power to our customers affected by this winter storm. Last night’s freezing rain and snow, coupled with today’s winds, have damaged electrical equipment in more than one hundred locations.

As of 7:30 p.m., a total of 1,327 customers are without power in small pockets across the city. The majority of the 79 power remaining power outages affect fewer than 10 customers.

Hydro Ottawa will continue to post information regarding these ongoing outages on our website, www.hydroottawa.com, on Facebook, and on Twitter at @hydroottawa.
